Brazilian Air Force Conducts AIRLIFT COMAO 2025 Exercise at Anápolis Air Base

Anápolis (GO), May 27, 2025 — The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has launched the AIRLIFT COMAO operational exercise, which began on May 26 and will continue through June 6 at Anápolis Air Base (BAAN). The operation aims to enhance integration among various aviation units and commands within the FAB by simulating realistic combat scenarios and strengthening operational readiness.
The exercise features Composite Air Operations (COMAO), which involve coordinated missions with different aircraft types such as fighter jets, transport planes, and helicopters. These missions are designed to train interoperability and rapid response capabilities in conflict situations.
One of this year’s highlights is the first-ever airlift of a Marruá telecommunications vehicle aboard a KC-390 Millennium aircraft. This operation, conducted by the “Profeta” Squadron (1st/1st GCC) on May 19, marks a significant advancement in the FAB’s ability to mobilize and maintain communications during joint operations.
The Marruá is a self-sufficient vehicle equipped with radio signal transmission and amplification systems and satellite links, allowing for sustained communications in remote or emergency conditions. Its integration with the KC-390 demonstrates the FAB’s ability to combine air and ground assets to ensure mission effectiveness.
AIRLIFT COMAO also serves as a preparation platform for future multinational exercises, such as the Cruzeiro do Sul Exercise (CRUZEX), scheduled for later this year. The participation of multiple units and execution of complex missions underscore the FAB’s commitment to operational excellence and the defense of Brazilian airspace.
