Brazilian Army modernizes individual tactical equipment to enhance troop operational readiness

Cobra - 2

Brasília (DF) – The Brazilian Army’s Logistics Command, through the Supply Commission, has announced an upgrade to the technical specifications of key individual tactical equipment under its responsibility. This initiative is part of the Brazilian Combatant System Project (COBRA), to provide greater lethality, protection, and enhanced C2 & ISR capabilities (Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) to individual soldiers at the sub-unit level. The COBRA Project is linked to the Army’s Strategic Program for Achieving Full Operational Capability. The modernization effort also supports the Future Combatant Subprogram, part of the Army’s Strategic Program Integrated Border Monitoring System (SISFRON).

Standardized Kit for Modern Warfare

The Brazilian Combatant System Project (COBRA) seeks to integrate cutting-edge technologies into a standardized kit tailored to meet the operational demands of the modern battlefield. The new equipment, developed based on requirements set by the Army’s Land Operations Command, is designed to improve troop efficiency, comfort, and safety. The upgraded items are expected to be available in the supply chain starting in 2025.

Partnership with the National Defense Industry

The modernization plan also aligns with a strategic directive to strengthen Brazil’s Defense Industrial Base. The Army is working in partnership with strategic defense companies to jointly develop the new equipment, with a focus on maximizing national content and encouraging self-sufficiency in the production of strategic items.

This closer collaboration with the industrial sector reinforces the Army’s role as a driver of national development, fostering technological innovation and delivering economic and social benefits.

Transformation with Operational and Social Impact

More than just a renewal of equipment, the initiative represents a leap in the deterrent capability and readiness of the Brazilian Army. At the same time, it strengthens integration with society by stimulating the national defense industry and ensuring that public investment translates into development, employment, and technological sovereignty.

The modernization of individual tactical equipment enhances the combatant’s responsiveness on the modern battlefield and supports Brazil’s national interests.
