On May 30, 2025, the Russian Navy launched the landing ship Vladimir Andreyev at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad. This vessel is the third ship of the Ivan Gren-class (Project 11711), representing a modernized version with enhanced capabilities compared to its predecessors.

Vladimir Andreyev features a significant increase in displacement, from 6,600 to approximately 8,000 tons, and structural improvements including a unified superstructure and an enlarged flight deck. These modifications allow the operation of up to five helicopters, such as the Ka-52K attack helicopters or the Ka-29 transport variants, enhancing the ship’s operational flexibility.

In terms of cargo, the vessel can carry up to 40 armored vehicles or 13 main battle tanks, and accommodates 400 naval infantry troops. The propulsion system includes four 16D49 diesel engines, each generating 6,000 horsepower, offering extended range and improved maneuverability.

The ship is armed with an AK-176MA 76 mm naval gun, AK-630M-2 Duet close-in weapon systems, and Zhalo-M 14.5 mm heavy machine guns. These systems are integrated with the Laska 5P-10-03 radar for efficient air and surface defense.

Named after Admiral Vladimir Andreyev, a commander of amphibious operations in the Pacific during World War II, the ship will undergo sea trials and is expected to join Russia’s Pacific Fleet in 2026. This launch reflects Russia’s efforts to modernize its amphibious warfare capabilities and strengthen its naval presence in strategic areas.
