Tehran, June 18 – Iran has issued a stark warning to the United States, cautioning that any form of military intervention in the region would lead to consequences of “irreparable damage,” amid growing tensions following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites.

In a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, officials emphasized that the Islamic Republic will respond with “full resolve” to any escalation involving U.S. forces, particularly if Washington offers direct military support to Israel or engages in operations near Iranian territory.

“The presence of foreign forces only fuels instability,” the statement read. “Any military intervention by the United States would cross a red line and inflict damage that neither side can undo.”

The warning follows Israel’s recent multi-phase air campaign targeting strategic Iranian sites, including the Natanz nuclear facility, which Israeli officials claim is central to Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons ambitions. While the United States has not confirmed any active role in the operation, Iranian officials have accused Washington of offering intelligence and logistical support to its regional ally.

Tensions have intensified in the Persian Gulf, where the U.S. Navy has increased its surveillance operations and repositioned assets in response to the escalating conflict. The Pentagon has yet to respond directly to Iran’s statement, but senior defense officials have reiterated the U.S. commitment to defending its regional interests and allies.

International observers have warned that any miscalculation could lead to a broader regional confrontation involving multiple actors, including Iranian proxy forces in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. Gulf states have expressed concern over potential disruptions to maritime security and energy exports through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for global oil supply.

The United Nations has called for “maximum restraint” from all parties and urged renewed diplomatic efforts to avoid further destabilization in the Middle East. Talks on Iran’s nuclear program remain stalled, and Western sanctions continue to weigh heavily on the Iranian economy.

With rhetoric escalating and no clear diplomatic breakthrough in sight, analysts say the coming days will be critical in determining whether the region veers toward containment or conflict.
