MICC contracting battalion deploys to Iraq
JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (June 17, 2015) — The 900th Contracting Battalion from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, arrived June 16 in Southwest Asia to support Operation Inherent Resolve.
The 900th CBN will provide contracting support to units at their deployed location to support the operation to eliminate the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, terrorist group and its threat to Iraq, Syria, the region, and the wider international community.
Prior to deploying Soldiers, civilians, families and friends gathered and cased the colors of the 900th CBN during a ceremony June 11 at Fort Bragg.
Col. Carol Tschida, the 419th Contracting Support Brigade commander at Fort Bragg, presided over the ceremony in front of an audience of 900th CBN Soldiers, family members and well-wishers.
Tschida made it clear to the families and friends staying behind that while they are not deploying the Army still needs their support while the 900th CBN members are deployed.
Prior to deploying with her unit, Lt. Col. Amanda Flint, the 900th CBN commander, told her Soldiers and the audience that the 900th is ready for this moment.
The 900th CBN is comprised of the battalion headquarters and contracting teams co-located at Fort Bragg. The mission of the 900th CBN is performed by these contracting teams working together with their civilian workforce. The 900th CBN is a subordinate unit to the 419th CSB located at Fort Bragg.
