Saab offers GlobalEye AEW&C solution to Canada, highlighting domestic industry benefits

GlobalEye-5-scaled

GlobalEye is a leading Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) solution that combines the best of Swedish and Canadian expertise and quality to match the requirements of Canada’s acquisition program

Saab has formally announced its readiness to offer the GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system to Canada, aligning the proposal with its participation at CANSEC 2025, the country’s premier defence industry exhibition. The move positions Saab as a strong contender for Canada’s AEW&C modernization program, leveraging a platform built in Canada and backed by global surveillance expertise.

At the core of Saab’s offering is the Bombardier Global 6000/6500 aircraft — a long-range, high-endurance jet manufactured in Canada. The aircraft provides an ideal platform for the GlobalEye system, combining superior performance at all altitudes with an array of advanced sensors and mission systems developed by Saab.

GlobalEye is a truly strategic asset – a multi-domain solution that delivers increased situational awareness and rapid response capability across air, maritime, and land domains,” said Anders Carp, Deputy CEO of Saab. “With Bombardier’s world-class aircraft made right here in Canada, and Saab’s proven expertise in radar development and advanced surveillance technologies, we believe GlobalEye represents a unique opportunity to deliver unmatched capability while growing Canada’s aerospace and defence sectors.”

The proposal aims to align with Canada’s defence and industrial policies, emphasizing domestic content, high-value job creation, and the integration of Canadian companies into Saab’s global supply chain. Through its partnership with Bombardier, Saab intends to maximize Canadian involvement in the program and strengthen the country’s sovereign defence capabilities.

GlobalEye is already in production and operational service, and has been delivered to multiple international partners, including NATO-aligned nations. The system provides real-time situational awareness and intelligence support across multiple domains, enabling faster and more informed decision-making.

With decades of AEW&C experience, Saab is positioning GlobalEye as a mature, scalable, and cost-effective solution for Canada’s evolving security environment.
